Send a correction or a question

What to send

Corrections are the messages we value most. Rules at borders change faster than any guide can track, and travellers who have just crossed are often the first to know. A good report answers four questions:

  1. Which page, and which sentence or table row?
  2. What did you find instead?
  3. When did you find it? The date matters, because rules change.
  4. How do you know? A link to an official page, or what happened to you at the border.

Questions about a page are welcome too, especially where something is unclear. If several readers ask the same thing, the page needs rewriting, and we will do that.

What we cannot help with

  • Applying for a visa on your behalf, or checking an individual application. Use the official portal or an embassy.
  • Booking tours, transport or hotels. The guide does not sell or arrange travel.
  • Emergencies. If you are in difficulty abroad, contact local emergency services and your embassy or consulate.
  • Legal advice about your immigration status. Ask the immigration authority or a lawyer.

If you are unsure whether a question fits, send it anyway. A message that is outside what we cover still tells us what readers are looking for, and a question the guide cannot yet answer is how a new section gets started.

How replies work

Send the form below. Messages go straight to the editors. If your message needs an answer, we reply by email to the address you give; if it is a correction, you will see the change on the page and in the corrections log on the about page once we have confirmed it.

We do not publish your name or your message. If a correction you send is used, the page credits "a reader" unless you ask to be named. The privacy page lists exactly which fields the form collects and what happens to them.

The form asks for a few details that help us check a report quickly: which country it concerns, how you crossed or entered, and your passport country, since visa rules differ by nationality. The subject, your name, email, travel month and the country concerned are required; the extra details are optional.

Before you write

Check the "last checked" date under the section you are writing about. If the date is recent and your information is older, the page may already reflect the change. If the official source linked there says something different from the page, that is exactly the kind of report we want.

For visa questions about a specific nationality, the official portals are faster than we are: evisa.gov.vn for Vietnam, evisa.gov.kh for Cambodia, and laoevisa.gov.la for Laos. They list eligible countries and current fees.

Common questions

Questions readers ask

How quickly do you reply?

We reply by email when a message needs an answer. Corrections are checked against a source before the page changes, which can take longer than a reply.

Can I phone the editors?

The guide works through the form only, and replies come by email. Phone details are not published.

Will you publish my name?

Not unless you ask. A correction is credited to "a reader" by default.
